Sony Vaio PCG-7M1M wont boot up

I am in real fix and I need your help in solving the issue. I have a Sony Vaio laptop which is installed with Windows XP operating system. The laptop was working fine until yesterday when the laptop shut itself down while downloading some data on the computer and now the laptop does not boot up. Whenever the power button is pressed for booting the computer, all the LED's glow but nothing happens. I cant figure out why my Sony Vaio PCG-7M1M wont boot up and hence need your expert opinion on the topic. Any suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

All the functions which are performed by the computer are controlled by the motherboard of the computer. The motherboard of the computer is responsible for providing correct voltage levels to all the peripheral which are connected to the computer and taking logical decisions. If the motherboard of the computer is faulty then the computer will not work properly. Therefore I would suggest that you get the motherboard of the laptop checked. If the motherboard of the laptop is faulty, you will have to get it replaced. Once the motherboard of the laptop is replaced, you will not face the same problem again.

Most of the laptops face the problem with residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips of the laptop. If the residual charge stored near the RAM chips reaches threshold level, then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips and hence will not able to boot. You will have to clear the residual charge from the laptop. To clear the residual charge, shut down the computer and disconnect from the AC adapter. Remove the battery and press the power button. Keep the power button pressed for about 30 seconds. Replace the battery and see if the laptop is booting.

As the laptop was working when it shut itself down, it is possible that the battery of the laptop has drained out of charge. If the battery of the laptop does not have enough charge then it wont be able to provide power to the laptop. This happens because sometimes the battery of the laptop does not get charged when connected to AC adapter. Therefore let the battery of the laptop charge for sometime and then see if the laptop is booting or not.

There is a battery on the motherboard which is responsible for saving all the settings which are required for the laptop to boot. Open the laptop and locate the battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery and check the voltage across the battery using Digital multimeter. The voltage of the battery should be between 2.5 volts to 3 volts. If the voltage of the battery is less than 2.5 volts then the laptop wont boot. Replace the battery and see if the laptop is booting.

I think the hard drive of the computer has gone bad due to which the laptop is not booting. The operating system of the computer is stored on the hard drive of the computer. If the hard drive of the computer is faulty then the operating system will not boot from it. Remove the hard drive of the laptop and then connect it to some other computer. See if the hard drive is detected. If the hard drive is detected, run all the diagnostic tools and see if there are any errors on it. If there are any errors in the hard drive, try and get the errors rectified. If the errors are beyond rectification, then get the hard disk replaced.
