I am suggesting you the Ubuntu. The Ubuntu can be an Operating System Free based on Debian a distribution GNU / Linux And sponsored by the Society Canonical. The default version using the desktop GNOME has enriched many variants Including Kubuntu using office KDE. I think it can be better for your requirements. I hope you can like it.

The Linux Mint can be the my recommendation. The Linux Mint can be an Operating System based on Ubuntu thus indirectly on the distribution Debian GNU/Linux. The Linux Mint is mainly composed of FOSS but this distribution also includes several default items owners or unfree. Linux Mint differentiates itself by adding to the many FOSS of Codecs (MP3, divX, win32), plugins (Java, flash and Real player), And Drivers owners such as graphics cards Nvidia or ATI.
