Hello there, I have a Satellite E105-S1602 laptop which was installed with Windows Vista operating system. I wanted to upgrade the operating system to Windows 7 and for that I tried to upgrade the BIOS on the laptop but after BIOS upgrade the laptop is not booting. I get a Blue screen of Death after bios update on Satellite E105-S1602 laptop when it is started. I cant figure out what is causing such problem and hence need your help in solving the issue. Is there any way to solve this problem? Please help.

The BIOS on the laptop must not been updated properly and hence you are facing such problems while booting the computer. BIOS of the computer is responsible for saving all the settings which are required for booting of the computer. If the BIOS of the computer is not working properly then the system will not boot. As the BIOS is not updated properly, I would suggest you to try and upgrade the BIOS of the system again. After BIOS upgrade the computer will boot without any problem.

The BIOS update which you must have downloaded and installed on the laptop must not be supported by the system and hence it is conflicting with system. Try and download the BIOS update which is supported by the BIOS chip which you are using and then install it on the system. You can get the supported BIOS version for the chip which you are using from the official website of the manufacturer of the BIOS chip. Once the supported BIOS is installed, the system will work fine.

The BSOD which you are getting must be due to the RAM chip which must have been dislocated from their respective slots. Sometimes the RAM chips in the laptop get dislocated from their respective slots due to which the system will not be able to access the RAM. If the system is not able to access the RAM, it wont be able to boot and will give a Blue screen of death. Therefore open the laptop and remove the RAM chips from their respective slots. Clean the connecting terminal and then replace the RAM back again in their slots. Check if the RAM system boots. If their are multiple RAM chips then try booting the system using single RAM chip at a time and see if the system boots.

The procedure of BIOS upgrade should be carried out using command prompt and not in the Windows environment. This is because during the BIOS upgrade, the Windows operating system may get stuck up and will not respond. If such a situation occurs then the system has to be restarted manually which leads to improper BIOS upgrade. If the BIOS upgrade is stopped in between then the system will not boot. Hence try updating the BIOS of the system from the command prompt and let the procedure complete. Once the BIOS is upgraded, check if the laptop is booting.
