    Advent laptop does not start

Please help as I am facing very unusual problem with my laptop. I bought Advent laptop which is installed with Windows Xp operating system 2 months back. The laptop was working fine till yesterday when the laptop shut itself down while downloading some data from the internet. Now the laptop wont start at all. Is this some hardware problem? Or some software problem? Please somebody explain me why my Advent laptop does not start. Any suggestions/solutions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you to start the computer in safe mode and then scan the computer with an updated antivirus. There is a high possibility that the laptop is infected by some virus due to which the laptop is not starting. Virus's get downloaded while downloading some data from the internet. Hence scan the computer with an updated antivirus and check if any of the files are infected. Repair or quarantine the files which are infected. After repairing check if the laptop is working properly or not.

All the functions of the laptop are controlled by the motherboard. If the motherboard itself is faulty then the laptop will not work properly. The main power bank which provides power to all the devices which are connected is also situated on the motherboard. Therefore if the motherboard is faulty then the computer is bound to give problems. Get the motherboard of the laptop checked by some technician. If the motherboard is faulty then there is no other option than to replace the motherboard of the laptop. Once the motherboard of the laptop is replaced, you will not face such problems.

Open the laptop and remove the hard drive of the laptop. The hard drive of the laptop must have got corrupt due to which the laptop is not starting. To check the hard drive of the laptop, remove it and connect it to some good known computer in slave mode. Check if the hard drive gets detected by the computer. You can download the diagnostic tools depending on the manufacturer of the hard drive and run the diagnostic tests on the hard drive. The results will tabulate all the errors/problems with the hard drive. If the problems are of solvable nature then it is good, otherwise you will have to replace the hard drive.

Re: Advent laptop does not start

Nearly all the laptops face the problem with residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips of the laptop. If this charge crosses the threshold limit then the RAM chips become inaccessible to the Laptop. If the RAM chips become inaccessible then the system will not boot. Therefore to discharge the residual charge, shut down the computer and disconnect it from the AC source. Remove the battery of the Netbook. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds and then release it. Replace the battery and try to start the computer. Hopefully it will start.
