The application is really very simple to use. A Start button lets you start recording the race. The software looks alone your GPS position and shows the strength of the GPS signal. While you run the Start button becomes Stop and you also have a button Pause. The screen displays the stopwatch, distance traveled, time per kilometer, your speed. Small vertical bars can also see the evolution of your speed. Once your race is over and the Stop button pressed, the software asks if you want to save your race. Your race is then available on the website but also in history on your iPhone.

This software is still in development so there are regular updates. So last week between my two tests, there appeared a convenient feature that locks the phone during the race and prevents you leave the application inadvertently. Just press the little lock to lock / unlock. I tested the software twice and found that this really works if your phone has a better co-ordination with gps.

Looking at the route on the RunKeeper website I realized that he had planted slightly in some places, with a route that cuts through the houses. A discharge of software, I had not disabled the WiFi detection as recommended. The location of the iPhone is doing so via the 3G it can actual play. The velocity curves of RunKeeper and Nike + are similar in general form.

The old application Runkeeper, which had already become free for some time, has disappeared from the AppStore to be replaced by two new: RunKeeper Free and Pro RunKeeper. If you already RunKeeper, the software will continue to operate but it will not be updated and you should download the new version in the AppStore to take advantage of new features.

The free version displays advertisements. So far the only new feature is the addition of mapping directly into the application. During your run, you can now view in applying the map to show the point where you are. The point moves almost live, so you can check your status without leaving the application or pause your workout. Mapping has also been featured in the background and lets you see your course directly on the iPhone and at the end of your race when he had to go through the site before.
