    Problems with Dell 1525

Hello there, From past few days i have been facing problems with my DELL 1525 laptop. I used to access internet from it using both wireless and wired connectivity. But from few days my Dell 1525 is unable to connect to internet. Whenever i try to connect it to internet, windows gives an error saying "Windows is unable to find or locate a network". It also shows that there is no wireless adaptor present or enabled. I cant figure out the problem as i used to access internet from the same laptop. Please suggest some solutions if there are any.

To check if the wireless adaptor is enabled or not, go to device manager. To open device manager, Right click on my computer and select manage. Now select Device manager from the list populated below. Once the Device manager is selected, the no of peripherals attached will be listed on the right hand side. Highlight the Network adaptor and Select the Wireless network adaptor. If there is any caution sign besides it then troubleshoot it by right clicking on it. Once troubleshooted the Device will work fine.

I think the problem is with your Network Interface Card which is installed in your laptop. If the problem was with only wireless adaptor, then the laptop should have been able to access internet via wired medium. But as both the types of connectivity are not working then there is something wrong with the Network Card. To check the network card. Click on start menu. Now select Run. Now Type " Ping 127.0.0.1 -t" in the run tab. Now command prompt window will open which will show the no of packets sent and received by the NIC card. If there are no packets received or sent then the network card is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Check if the link which provides the bandwidth is working or not. Many times there are some problems faced by ISP's due to which they are not able to provide the required bandwidth to the customers which results in dead link. If you try to find and connect to such dead link the system will give an error message saying unable to locate any network. If there is a router or a modem through which you access internet, then check if the LED's corresponding to Internet and DSL are stable or not. If they are blinking or If they are off then the Link is dead and you should contact the service provider.

The configuration of the network card must have changed which is responsible for zero network connectivity. Check the configuration of the network card and see if it is properly configured. To check the configuration of the Network card, Right click on the Local Area Network and Select Properties. Select TCP/IP utilities and then Click on Properties. If you know the IP of your system, then select "Use the following IP address" and enter the Ip address of the system. Also enter the Default gateway and Preferred DNS address which is provided by the Service provider. Once all the configuration is entered, apply the settings and see if you can access the Internet.

Your network adaptor is not working properly and needs to be checked. There are many reasons for the network adaptor to stop working properly, one of them is due to driver corruption. Check if the network adaptor is working properly by accessing device manager. Now check the status of the network adaptor by right clicking on it. If the status says "This device is not working properly" then remove the existing drivers and restart the computer. After restarting again install the drivers and then update them. Now check the device status again and if it says "Device is working properly" then configure the TCP/IP settings. If the status is Not working properly even after re installation of the drivers the NIC needs to be replaced.
