There is only one thing in a smartphone which makes it good : on screen keyboard. Which one is best HTC Hero or the Apple iPhone 3GS? I want to know the features and specification of this mobile phone. Is there any disadvantages of this phone. Performance wise which one is best?

A strong effort from the HTC Hero, a 5 megapixel effort with autofocus sets a benchmark that the 3GS cannot compete with, thanks to a 3.15 megapixel affair. Running background apps is only possible by jailbreaking the iPhone, if you need to jailbreak a phone for a simple feature then its not worth it. The 3GS has a manual touch focus solution which is less assured than the Hero’s effort, but both are docked points for lacking a flash.

Hero is probably the best phone on the market right now. The HTC Hero, on the other hand, is also somewhat of a design leader. It copies the minimalist design showcased in the G1 and HTC Magic. It will probably never be an iPhone killer, Apple is too god at marketing to allow that to happen. Technically iPhone is far behind.

The display on the Hero is gorgeous, no doubt. Using a similar resistant material as the iPhone 3GS, iPhones weren’t without fault, the iPhone 3GS signalled the arrival of a product with as much inner beauty as its outer skin - which despite its look isn’t plastic.

The HTC Hero comes in two main colors - white and brown.Powering Hero is 528MHz processor virtually identical to one inside the Dream and Magic, and it has the same 288MB of RAM as the latter. Up front, there’s a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen running at 320 x 480 HVGA resolution, sitting above the usual six Android buttons: call, home, menu, call-end, search and back. HTC Hero is perhaps the most advanced Android to date. And the OS is probably the closest the competition has ever come to the iPhone's touchscreen revelation.

The iPhone 3GS and Hero also share the existence of a 3.5mm headphone jack which can often be a deal breaker for users who aren’t prepared to use anything but the best headphones.The Hero has the same 528MHz Qualcomm processor, paired with 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM, as its siblings, together with 900/2100MHz HSPA/WCDMA supporting up to 7.2Mbps downlink and 2Mbps uplink speeds (network depending).
