    MP4 4GB Firmware Problem

Just few days back i had bought a new MP4 4GB. And i think i might had accidental pressed upgrade firmware. I think I had chosen the wrong firmware. Now the problem that i'm facing currently is when I stored some folders in MP4 and if i I want to remove them, i'm unable to do it. So, can any one tell me that why i'm facing such firmware problem on my new MP4? Any one have any idea about it? Please help me to get rid of the above issue.

Is your BTC drive on either the Primary or Secondary IDE controller. If it is on a PCI addon controller that may be your problem. This player seems to be a 1 GB player with fake 4 GB firmware. Try to format it with windows explorer and you’ll have just 1 GB. The player then works, but only with 1 GB.

The firmware was not the problem and updating it was a bad decision. Many of the players are sold with a standard user manual and the section on firmware updates states “go to the website for firmware updates”, often with no website given, while if a website is given, it may not have the correct updates for a particular player. The 9.0.48 firmware can not be extracted or backed up at this time since no tool exists now to do that. Changing firmware on any of these players is very risky. There are hundreds of different firmware versions.

An incorrect firmware update is difficult or impossible to undo, and will likely involve dismantling the device and shorting the memory to put it into 'recovery mode'. If you can still get the player to start up, you can remove the memory hack and things should be fine, but your 4GB of memory is actually much less because you never had 4GB. If the firmware has been made non-working, just wait. Someday there should be tools to extract the firmware and you will be able to put the right firmware back in.
