Toshiba satellite laptop keeps shutting down

Hello,

I'm in big trouble here, hoping someone will really help me here. My laptop keeps shutting off for no reason. My Toshiba satellite laptop having Windows XP installed on it. I have run all type of security and spyware detection but coudn't found a single threat on my laptop. Now it seems to be happening more frequently.

It can be because of faulty or weak battery. Try to keep laptop plugged in to the adapter all time and then see if its restarts again , And its first recommend that you make a backup of your hard disk data as soon as possible.

Mostly it happens because of overheating issue. Is the fan spinning? and are you getting air flow? Take of the metal grate over the cooling fans on the bottom and then shot compressed air through the fan outputs in the back. I don't know much about laptops, but on a desktop, those symptoms would lead me to suspect overheating, esp. the processor. I think that the heatsink compound might be a bit old and dry then.
