Apple Ipod Touch White Screen

Hello everyone,

I have a big problem with my ipod touch 1G (warranty ended) with firmware 2.0. In wanting to use it today, when it was on standby but I found myself pressing the home button with a white screen. All actions with both buttons only turn it off and on again but always with the white screen.

I restored with iTunes, the process has proceeded normally, but in the end the problem is still there.

Restore through iTunes 8 if you can...

If you have to do something more dramatic, try resetting it to factory shipping mode.
Hold the Home & Power buttons for 10 seconds, then release the Power button, but continue holding the Home button for another 10 seconds.

The white screen means that there is a bad connection between the video LCD & the main board. I can't say 100% for the touch, but when I've seen an iPod (nano & regular) with similar behavior, if another LCD does not resolve the problem, then a new board does. Chances are you got someone else's replacement, if the item is covered under the warranty, get a replacement!

you can do, is to reset and perform a full system restore.

1. Press and hold Sleep/Wake and Home until the iPhone resets.

2. When the Apple logo appears release Sleep/Wake. Do not release Home until you see the prompt to connect the iPhone/iPod Touch to iTunes.

You will then need to update the firmware, and proceed with restoring all of your applications and settings.
