Sanyo launches in Japan the NVA-MS1280DT and NVA-MS1180DT multimedia GPS navigation devices. The two device does multimedia playback in addition to GPS navigation.The NVA-MS1280DT and NVA-MS1180DT both feature internal solid state drives for storing media such as video and music that can be played back in DTS-HD or Dolby.
Sanyo NVA-MS1280DT has a 4GB SSD and a 4GB SD memory card while the NVA-MS1180DT has only a 4GB SSD. While the memory capacity may not seem like much, SSD are much more reliable at playing back media files in a vibrating vehicle, whereas typical HDD aren’t so reliable. Both devices have a 7-inch QVGA LCD display and they can play movies with DTS or Dolby Sound and support music playback. You can also watch digital mobile TV on the two devices. They NVA-MS1280DT comes with also a integrated DVD player.
Both devices feature 7-inch touchscreens, the usual GPS capabilities, an FM receiver for traffic reports, and iPod support.
Sanyos’ next-gen GPS devices will be available for $1750 and $1500 respectively.
