Gameloft today announced the release of "Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes" for Apple's revolutionary iPhone and iPod touch. The game takes place during World War II and focuses on team strategy.

Control is via a 'fire' icon and a touchable movement circle, that at least looks like it might be a bit more analogue than a fake D-Pad and which changes according to whether you are on foot or in a vehicle. The accelerometer comes into play too as a natural way of lobbing grenades at your foes.

Gameloft’s store description for Hour of Heroes provides the following details:

* 14 missions and 3 campaigns: Normandy, Ardennes, and Tunisia
* Drive a 4×4 vehicle or a Sherman tank and use a wide range of weapons (bazooka, sniper rifle, machine guns, etc.)
* Use the accelerometer function to launch grenades and the touch screen to shoot at enemies.

Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes" costs US$9.99 and is available for purchase from Apple's iTunes App Store here.
