Some early adopters of Apple's second-generation iPhone have witnessed thin cracks appear at the edges of the device that damage the phone's look and threaten to pose a larger threat down the road.
While white 16GB models seem to be the most affected, but there are also some users who are complaining of the hairline crack in the black model as well. The cracks are not the result of accidental drops, so it seems very much like a manufacturing problem. These plastic shells have replaced the aluminum originally used in the first generation iPhone, as Apple believed it would help the phone receive better antenna signals.
The hairline fractures most often appear on the plastic shell near the corners of the device, particularly near the headphone jack, ringer switch, and volume controls.
