Newly built computer turns off before windows can install

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my computer with a core 2 due E6550 chip, an ASUS
P5KE-SE motherboard, and two sticks of 1g 667 DDR2 corsair ram. I've been attempting to use the videocard (nvidia 7900 GTO) and sata hd from my old PC, and reformat it by booting from a legit XP disk. I get the post test screen come up, and i can access the BIOS - but everytime i try and save any changes to the BIOS the computer just shuts down - no blue screen, just off, and then starts again.

If i forget about the BIOS and just try installing windows, then the windows pre-setup bit runs fine but when it asks me if i want to install (enter) or repair (R) any response just makes it turn off again.

I tried taking out one stick of RAM to see if that had something to do with it, but i got exactly the same response, except this time it powered off as i hit
F8 to accept windows license agreement.

    Please can anyone help?

did anyone ever have a solution for this problem. I have been getting the same kind of issue. If I let windows run, the computer runs fine. When I try to install windows I get to the hit enter to continue screen and the monitor goes black. I have replaced the memory, video card and now I'm trying to use a different HDD and I get the same issue no matter what.

Well, it sure seems to the motherboard problem then. Try replacing the CMOS Battery. If it still doesnt work then replace the mobo if it is still under warranty.

I replaced the battery and I put the old HDD back in to see if I could find any problems with the current installation. I looked in the event view and this is the error code that was coming up on the old hdd

    0x0000009c (0x00000001, 0x8054e0f0, 0xb6000000, 0x00000181)

    Any ideas?
