Overclocking Q6600 on Asus P5KC motherboard

I just want to share some of the information with you all hence I am starting this thread. Well just want to say that Q6600 is the weakest processor that I have come across. A few days ago when I had decided to overclock this processor. When I had brought an increase in the voltage to 1.35V I realized that my system temperature did raise to 60-62 degrees from an ideal temperature of 32 degrees. I just want to ask which is a good temperature so that I can bring up a good overclocking speed in this processor. So any information that you all would like to share it with me then please do inform me.

Well it all depends on the stability of the processor that you are using, no doubt Q6600 is a bit weak processor and I think that’s a bit negative point but what can be done now. See with the voltage that you have specified the system temperature reaches that level that means you are not having a good system coolant in the system and hence I think that’s the biggest drawback, so first from your side you must check that you have good cooling solutions for your system. The system voltage that you have specified is ok for your system, just check the speed that you are getting with this voltage.

For me 1.45 V is the max voltage that can be supplied to the system. So looking at your system I don’t think your system will be able to sustain so much rise in the system’s voltage. So for that what you have to do is to check the system stability for a each and a single rise in the systems voltage at each and every stage you will have to wait and see how much increase in the speed has been noted. I think that will give you the exact idea. So that can also be a option. However the maximum speed that it can achieve is around 3.6GHz. you must be satisfied with that

See it also depends upon the motherboard that you are using. Check with the bios settings and accordingly make some changes in the bios. I perfectly agree with the above users who have said that we must test the stability at each and every level of the increase in the systems temperature. I think 3.6 is a much bigger speed for your system, I would be surprised if it reaches anywhere around 3.3GHz. so that’s what I have to say here. In case if you have any other query then do feel free to ask here.

Ok, I got the point that you all are trying to make well I did get negative response from your side. However I will try to keep up my system and make sure that it will reach the 3.6GHz mark that one of the user has specified. I will try and improve the cooling solutions for the system and see to it that my system does gives some good stability. So i will get back to you guys if my system does perform very well. Anyways thanks for all of your suggestions.
