Intel core 2 duo E8400 is at high temperature

I want to overclock my Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, I would like to know how far I can push, and how to do it because I read a lot of stuff and then practiced it but the temperature is going too high for my Intel core 2 duo E8400. So here is my configuration: Operating system is Windows 7. Case mode is ASUS P5K, CPU: INTEL CORE 2 DUO 3GHz cooled heatpipe not home yet, a DCC-C900 aerocool has come. GC: ATI RADEON HD 2900XT 512MB VIVO, RAM: 4X 1GB PNY XLR8 800 MHz, PC2-6400. HDD: 2X 1 TB POWER: 600W FORTRON EVEREST.

I am also in the similar kind of situation. I have a E8400 clocked at 3GHz and when I mount it to 3.5GHz and the fact that I run in full (with OSSB), temperatures are quite correct, but after a while, my screen turns black, I am trying to press Ctrl Alt Del and also Alt Tab, or even move the mouse but nothing is happening, finally I have to believe that the screen is paused. After that I have rebooted my computer system and then the same thing happened and I do not think this is due to a lack of cooling because I am having good cooling mechanism. For more clear information here is configuration of my system. CPU: E8400, GPU: HD 4870 1GB, Ram: 2GB (2x1 GB) G-Skill PC 8500, Tour: Twelve Hundred, CPU-Fan: Vendetta 2, Motherboard: Asus P5Q-Pro, Alim: Thermal Tought Power 600w.I would like to Overclocker but from the BIOS, not with a soft style SetFSB. I heard that this CPU up to 4.5GHz in AirCooling environment. Is this true?

It's nice to think of the CPU, but you will need to read all the stuff on overclocking before saying that, most people misinformed about it say it is very dangerous this is wrong! At least have fun with the Vcore or want to use the CPU for a BBQ by heating a max. The overclocking has evolved since the days! In fact, I tested quickly by increasing the frequency of 20 MHz CPU (in AI Suite) by reboot and I have also faced the black screen issue once at 3.5GHz.

Re: Intel core 2 duo E8400 is at high temperature

I just bought an Intel Core2 Duo E8400 cpu to put on my MSI 945P Neo 5F after taking advice from a computer retailer. But after installation, my PC either does not start; a blue screen with an error message box displays the hardware. Can you tell me whether this processor is compatible with my card? If yes, what might be my problem? I am under windows7 operating system, actually I was thinking of overclocking but till now I am not able to start the system, hence there is a problem if I am thinking of overclocking.
