Overclocking Core 2 Quad q8400 at 3.4Ghz

I need advice and I hope you can help me. After o/c my graphics card I decided to go for the processor. I am quiet thinking about overclocking the same to gain a bit more output. But yet I cannot find any option to do the safely. I kept a cpu monitoring app on the screen that gives me the constant rating. I am using a third party tool here and it looks like the cpu is getting hot. I need some help here to fix this problem. I want to go with safe practice for the overclocking. I tried doing this but it is not working at all. Does anyone knows which is the most safest way of doing this.

You might be pushing the cpu too high to work that is why you are getting that problem. It is good if you can go with stable clock rate that does not burn down your cpu. Here you can start with running a test that is going to tell you more about your systems output. There are many testing software available. At the end of the same you get a report about maximum frequency your system can handle. Just run those tools and see what results you get and then go ahead with the overclocking stuff.

The best thing to do is follow a online guide that will help you to overclock your cpu properly. Here just overclocking is not done. You have to add a good cpu cooler that can keep your cpu cool while using. Because if the processing power is increased it will also generate a lot of heat that can cause serious hardware problem in your system. Overclocking can be risky on the stock cooler. It will be better to go with liquid cooler which will help you more.
