How to perform reflow in HP Pavilion dv2000

I am using HP Pavilion dv2000 from last couple of months and recently stack in some problems with my laptop. I have heard about similar problem with many of the laptops like the DV 2000, 4000, 6000, and more newly in the 9000 series laptops. The problem which I am facing is that the integral video chipset is failing. It is hooked on the laptop’s motherboard but all other components on the board are working fine because am able to turn the machine on and able to see all the sign lights appearing. As the video chipset is built into the motherboard I am really not able to find any kind of reason why such think is happening in my laptop some of my friends suggest me to perform the reflow i.e. repair done to it. But I don’t have any idea about how it is performed so if anyone have details regarding this please let me know that will be really helpful to resolve problem with HP Pavilion dv2000.

The term reflow is actually used in manufacturing and its manufacturer word, reflow means re-solder all the points on your laptop device. You can perform it for your laptop but for that you need to re-solder all the points that are present on the laptop board. Here I need to tell you that it is extremely complex to do it by an ordinary person like us as we don’t have much knowledge regarding motherboards. While performing is there is any mistake done while performing reflow then it may also spoil the board. I advice you to consult to the technical person they will able to help you better.

I think the problem with video chipset if you are using nVidia video card they are the majority video card maker or any other, then there can be problem with the soldering of the motherboard and chip. Because they are currently using tin based solder which tend to have much poorer melting point than lead which was used before. Because the device is run for longer hours and turned on and off again and again because of which the soldering joints that used for attaching the video chip on the motherboard initiate to split and micro-fracture because of which you are facing video card failure issue in your laptop. I think you need to go for repair of your motherboard chips.

You can perform reflow to fix your video chipset soldering problem; I feel you are thinking that the process is very complex. But I tell you that you can perform it by taking some care while performing it, basically first you have to isolate the video chipset on the motherboard. Now fix it in the proper position and apply an extremely high level of heat straight to it. The heat should be sufficient to dissolve the solder built into the chip. This will let the micro-fractures and crakes on the solder to melt back into themselves, this will surely resolve your video chip issue and will able to resolve the problem. I think this will be really easy to perform as it is quite simple to do but you need to take care.
