    GA-EX58-UD3R + (I7 920) OVERCLOCK Help

Hello. I have a desktop machine and it is been installed with Windows 7 operating system. The problem is with the Overclocking of my motherboard. I have tried doing it as per my knowledge regarding voltages and it is limited. I wish to reach 4.0Ghz OC - 191x21 but with low voltages. The thing was that I got really a high temperature. Please help me out so that I can make the issue to be sorted and found some instability. Hope to get a better solution.

Well in order to make the things work out for you it is essential that you turn off the turbo cooler. This may then help you out to get the issue to be sorted. Also it depends on the type of the CPU cooler that you use. So it is essential that certain parameters has to be taken into consideration. So do look out for the same. Re: GA-EX58-UD3R + (I7 920) OVERCLOCK Help

I have tried to perform the overclocking wit my Gigabyte ex58 ud5,i7 920 to 3.6 with the lowest temps i could get and they are really low. Al I have done is I set the vcore to 1.2500V and qpi to 1.255V. On all core the highest number I saw was 67c and the temperature stayed between 60c- 66c most all the time. So I guess this may help you out a bit and make the necessary ailments to be fulfilled.

The thing could be that it depends on the type of cooler you use or the its the use of auto voltages. So in order to get the things to be worked well you need to perform a BIOS flash using Q-flash. This may then help you out well. For BIOS flash using Q-flash you need to keep 4 things in perspective that is as follows:
    • Floppy Disk Drive
    • USB flash drive
    • FAT32/16/12 Partition on your disk (FAT32 Is best)
    • A Bootable FAT32/16/12 USB Flash drive

There are certain steps that you need to implement and make the things to get it functioned well. Here its is:

    1. You need to create a bootable floopy disk by formatting a floppy disk and choosing Create a MS-DOS startup disk in the format options
    2. As it is been done then copy the Award flash utility (Flash895) & BIOS file (.Fxx) to the floppy disk
    3. Create an autoexec.bat with “flash895 bios_file_example_name.Fxx” in the content of the batch file, (without the quotes “ ”).
    4. Now Boot the system with the floppy (it will take a few minutes before screen comes out)
    5. Re-flash the BIOS & reboot.
