Mod molex connections via usb

USB is little connector and it would be helpful to be able to disconnect your fan line or have an external one for fan testing. I don't see why it wouldn't work if you didn't mix up the wires. Both are four wire connections.

Have you all any idea about this, please reply me your views.

It is very easy and you can perform it very well. You need to splice the two cables means Molex and USB and connect the red and black wires. Attach to both of the nodes two while matching up the colors.

You requires only the positive and negative leads for proper functionality of the fan. The only problem is that you will run into will be the amount of power the USB port will supply.

I have done this particular mod in the way to built two external USB powered fans for my Xbox 360. I construct a male USB to male molex cable which will provide the power and allow the fans to spin but The push or pull would not be expected from the fans.

The issue is, USB can carry only 5V and on other hand the firewire are capable to carry out 12v, so if you can acquire a fire wire cable for in low cost and your mobo has a firewire port.

According to me this should be helpful whatever he wants.

Instead of facing complexity with molex connectors (male and female).He needed to chop off the bottom of USB cables and solder the wire leads of the molex to the leads of the USB.

The molex would be used as a connects for power transmission and then the USB can be simply disconnected whenever you requires to disconnect it.
I think,this can help you to deal with this complex problem.

Instead of using USB you can try with the headphone jack where you will find the male/female bottom at radio shack for cheap.

The jack contains only two wires within it,in those one is usually wrapped around the other when you will splice it. You need to just twist the outer wire and use it for your ground and one thing should be remember in this case the inner wirer will be the positive.

i have used this concept earlier and I hope you also would get success to make connection for fans on doors which get unplugged frequently when you remove the door to get in the pc.
