Hi all
I was wondering if there's anyway to plug in my mp3 player (Toshiba Gigabeat S30) and have Windows recognize it as a normal external hard drive instead of as an MTP device? I was using it to backup photos from my digital camera while I was out of the country and when I got back home I tried transferring the photos to my PC, but I made a big pile of doo doo. After I plugged in the player, I accidentally pulled out the usb cable and the player gave me an error on the screen and then proceeded to format itself. Since MTP severely limits my options when I try to view Properties, I can't run data recovery software on it. What I'm trying to do is temporarily disable Windows recognizing my player as an MTP device and mount it as a normal usb drive, which will assign the player a drive letter so that I can try using data recovery software to get my pictures back.![]()
I'm running XP Pro with SP2 and all updates installed. I'm also using WMP 11
Any help would be greatly appreciated
