Trying to re-install Windows 7 after Backtrack mistake

So basically, I tried to dual boot Windows 7 with Backtrack 5 and messed up, wiping Windows completely. Now I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7 back onto my machine. I downloaded the USB Windows booster, tried installing custom and it couldn't use any of the partitions. The format option was un click able. And I tried using CMD to format the drive but said / in C:/ was an invalid parameter or something.

Please please can someone help me out here, your help will be very greatly appreciated, thank you.

Follow the below method and see if that helps you out:

    1. First of all try to start Backtrack LiveCD
    2. After that you can try to use gparted (gparted at command line) and delete all partitions and then shutdown the computer
    3. Now you can put windows cd in and install windows using the wizard

Thanks for your reply, I can't seem to unmount the partitions and they won't delete or format, unclickable icons.

I managed to delete all partitions but a large one flagged as boot mounted to point / which will not unmount or delete

I would say that format all the drives and freshly install the Operating System that you want, because in your case, there might be some issues with the grub boot loader or something similar.

I had litterally done the exact same thing with a linux install although i am not sure if my issue is a mbr issue or not. i installed linux on my netbook and now it won't load into windows 7. When my win 7 iso finishes downloading i am gonna try a repair install. i am worried because i had/have 30 or so gb's of files on tht windows install most of which would litterally take me months or more to get back

Well, you can could try to copy the 30gb of data's by connecting to some other pc and then try a full format. Usually, due to the mbr partition and all, which is done by linux and windows mix-match install, it gets broke and hence it causes booting issues. A reformat and starting from the scratch would be a good idea.
