Installing ubuntu on Toshiba NB300 / NB305

I have a Toshiba NB300 laptop and also have installed Ubuntu 11.04 on it. Most of the time when I start it up then the touchpad wont work properly and will also not show up in the System > Preferences > Mouse options. I am using an external mouse which seems to be working fine. So, when the touchpad starts responding out of the blue then I can see the touchpad tab in the System > Preferneces > Mouse. Any ideas how to fix this thing? Thanks

Can you check to see the touchpad in cat /proc/bus/input/devices when it is not working on your laptop? You can try to go to the below link to check the solutions for either your touchpad isnt working at all or touchpad stops working after a while or your touchpad has the simple features of a mouse, but Touchpad features, like tapping and scrolling do not work at all, etc:

I just purchased a Toshiba C655 laptop and I am regretting the fact that I should have read about this laptop before trying to install linux on it. I am trying to install Fedora or Ubuntu linux on this laptop but encountering a problem at the time of installation. After searching a lot on google I found that the Toshiba C655 series laptop do not support linux due to a problem in the ACPI in the laptop.

I also bought Toshiba NB305 last month and day before yesterday installed Ubuntu on it. I have noticed that most of the things do not work properly after ubuntu installation. If I put it on sleep then it will not wake up, bluetooth issue keys to control brightness, etc. But wifi, graphics, sound, leyboard and mouse, etc, work normally.
