EMGD only officially supports a limited set of Linux distributions. Ubuntu is being one of the OS in that list. Distributions use is works well, but not it also not officially supported by Intel. Hence we can't sure that this Ubuntu 11.10 support Intel GMA 500. As per my own knowledge this intel EGMD drivers support for the official versions of the ubuntu 11.04 but still there is no confirmation that it works nicely with this ubuntu 11.10 OS. Hence i'm not sure that it works well on your ubuntu 11.10 system.

Yes, i also found that this Intel GMA 500 "Poulsbo" video hardware and its drivers does not compatible with the Ubuntu 11.10 OS. few articles has been mentioned that it compatible with the release versions of Ubuntu. But they have not confirmation that it comfortable with this Ubuntu 11.10 OS. Hence i would be recommend to you for use the Ubuntu 11.04 OS instead of this 11.10 OS. This is best for making good combinations on your system.

Ubuntu 11.10 will ship with Linux 3.0 kernel which will be released in early days of this month. Hence i would be suggest to you for wait for few days if you want to do this install intel EGMD drivers on Ubuntu 11.10 OS. For more information you need to contact the official expert regarding this major issue. Try it and check its performance.
