Video card not working properly in windows 8

I have recently installed windows 8 and the problem now I am facing is that when I am starting copper application then it appears as if it needs hardware acceleration and then it does not start and then gives me a blank screen which I have noticed is the background color of the application itself. I have applications such as PaintPlay, MoPod, Labryinth, Tile Puzzle, Copper, BitBox , Word Hunt and copper is the only application that its giving me such kind of error and as far as I remember it all starts after ATI X1400 drivers and software. Is this some kind of Video card problem or something else? Any help regarding this will be appreciated.

As far as I know these problems are found to be with older imbedded video cards and I have also found that the AMD/ATI are not capable of keeping their drivers up to date. What I will suggest you to uninstall the driver you have and then reboot your machine and then restart it again and then run Windows update in order to check if there is any better update for the driver. You can update to a latest version or you can also use the repair disc to repair the driver and then check if the problem has been solved. If not then let me know so I can try to help you with other suggestions.

I will suggest you to download the “Guru3D - Driver Sweeper” in order to uninstall the driver. After you download it follow the below steps:
    • Just Reboot your PC in Safe Mode.
    • Than Run the Driver Sweeper and select the drivers you want to remove
    • You will get a list of the entries which can be removed and then it removes the selected one

You can also try to turn off the graphics hardware acceleration and it basically helps you in improving the video quality. I don’t have the idea about the win 8 but I have done it in win xp so you can get an idea about doing it in win 8.Just follow the below steps:
    • Go to start and then click on the control panel
    • Click on the display icon in the classic view
    • Go to settings and then click on the advanced button.
    • Then Click on the Troubleshoot tab.
    • And then disable to hardware acceleration by dragging it to the none or try to adjust it accordingly.

If the problem is solved when you turn it off then I think that there might be some problem with the video drivers or adapters.

You can also try to change the ccc (Catalyst Control Center program) settings and set a basic windows theme rather than the aero but if you are not able to work with it then you can try out the MSI Afterburner (MSI Afterburner v2.1.0 (2011-02-15) )and even if does not work then I will suggest you to get an older version of ATI driver. You can also try out the "AMD VISION Engine Control Center 11.8" it just requires a an update of netframeworks from windows update in order top install it and then run it. I have used the "AMD VISION Engine Control Center 11.8" and it had helped me to maintain the performance of the fan speed.

I am facing the same problem and after your suggestion I have tried to install the Catalyst Control Center with the express option but then I have found that it is being able to install but later when I checked then there was nothing in the folder and when I am using the custom option then I am getting a message saying "failed to find any installable components!" and then I have noticed that everything is working fine. I don’t know why did I get that message is there anyone who have faced the same.
