wauquickstart.exe error while upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

Yesterday I was performing an update of Windows Vista toward Win7. Windows Upgrade Advisor tells that system can be upgradeable. For that reason I bought "Windows Anytime Upgrade: Windows 7 Starter toward Home Premium" from the Microsoft itself. While I open up the file and obtain a dialog that tells wauquickstart.exe error: "Process is not supported on top of this platform". What kind of issue is this and what it is related to?

Suddenly I mention that if you have Windows XP and want to upgrade to Windows 7, the only option you have to have the new Microsoft operating system is completely installed.

If you have Windows Vista is not the matter is the best because there are some versions of Vista that cannot be upgraded to Windows 7 directly, so you have to install the Windows 7 completely well. Needless to say, however I will, before installing the new operating system Windows 7 on your Windows XP or Windows Vista, you should back up all your data and files.

The note also indicated that the installation of the update of Windows 7 in some views (in which this process can be made) will have an update mode 'Easy' (easy), which will feature a program assistant for this process upgrade, but do not let you import your programs, just your personal tools and files.

I think it's degrading what they are doing with the privacy policy and the bitterness of want to do or give discounts or free upgrades for after that date.

The Vista and Windows 7 versions correspond. If I do upgrade tests will be established that it is possible. My PC meets all requirements. And all my equipment and software work under Windows 7. An upgrade from vista you need to do. When booting from the CD you cannot upgrade, but only a clean install.

The Home Premium version for students would also own. Only downloadable version, this edition with errors when decompressing downloaded files.
