Bad image C:\Windows\AppPatch\AcGenral.DLL error on windows XP

I want some help to fix a AcGenral.DLL error on Windows XP. I am getting this constantly on my system and I am unable to get any solution for the same. I had tried to remove some software but that failed to work. Is there anyone who can help me to fix the issue. I am started getting this error while trying to add games. What should I do to fix this issue. My system is getting unstable due to this constant error.

Running System File Scanner can help you a bit to fix the issue. You can just try that once. You have to keep your windows disc ready. Just boot your system in safe mode and launch cmd. In that just type sfc /scannow and hit enter. This is windows integrated system file checker utility. It will scan your pc for damage system file and will give you a report at the end. Through which you can go ahead troubleshooting your system.

It looks like some kind of malware issue to me. I had tried to find information on that missing dll file. But nothing is listed around. You must scan your pc in safe mode to find first whether there is no virus in your pc. You will need a really good antivirus for that. To be on the safer side you can try using a bootable antivirus scanner. Many popular antivirus give you a bootable scanning disc. You just have to make that and add all latest updates.

Try to run system restore first and see what output you are getting. System restore is the best way to fix this kind of dll problems. For temporary period it just restore the old settings. Then you can try to find more information on the problem through event viewer. Where you get the full description of error code. I am sure there is some third party program or application which is causing the issue. You must replace or re-install that to get rid of the problem you are facing.
