Ubuntu crashes after loading large images on firefox 4

Hi I have a notebook and in that I am running ubuntu, and for browsing the internet I use firefox, but from last 5 days I am having too many problems with both of them I would say, because I am not able to figure out like the problem is regarding the firefox or Ubuntu, I have searched on internet as well, but didn’t find any answers, see the problem is like when I load any large images on the browser, it works slowly, and progressively stops working, and at last I have to reboot the machine. what would be the problem? Any suggestion?

In fact I would say the same as I am also not getting from where this is happening, you might have too many different problems, but if I would suggest you should start from the browser, I want to know that it happens all the time or sometimes only, because if suppose you are having it every time, then I would say you should uninstall the current version and then install the new one, or rather you can simply upgrade to the next version.

I was having the same issue with my browser and I think this is because of the video driver or memory dilemma. And let me know which browser version you are using? Because I have heard that Firefox 4 beta version may have some graphics speeding up features running, and which is buggy still, thus if you have the same I would suggest you that you should install the new version and I would why you are just stick with this one as you can download the further version for free.

I would suggest you that you should download the beta 9 which is released I think, and which is somewhat extra steady. You can also try to mentioned your issue in the firefox forums, I am not sure that you’ll get the solution but, at least It will come to know that from where this is actually happening. Otherwise the best option would be install another version and then try again.

See it might be possible that, from the site where you are accessing those images has some problems in their own source only, thus I would say try to access the same website from another browser, and if you persist the same problem then surely there is some problem in the site only, and you won’t have to change the browser, or else you may have option to use different version or some different browser as well.

Yeah exactly I have the beta version only, and let me tell you that I am not using any third party application or the driver for my notebook, thus I don’t think this is the problem in the drivers, but yeah I have tried some other browser also, but the same problem persist, but thanks for your effort towards this thread, though it was not purely helpful but thanks for the kind attention. I think the problem is in the operating system itself, isn’t it?

I have seen this kind of problems too many times in the forums, and as you have mentioned that you don’t use any such drivers but still I would say you should try to reinstall the driver first, yeah there might be some problem in the operating system also, but its always good to start with the software that we use. And if suppose even after installing the new drivers and the browser also, you are having the same problem, then I would say you must have to install the new operating system in your machine.
