Want to delete "/windows_Old" folder from Linux Mint

I have allocated my forty gigabyte of hard disk to Linux Mint and now this thing is getting full. Now you will say that increase the HD share for Linux Mint, but I do not want to do that. I mean to say that I wo not want to increase the hard disk share for my Linux mint. Well I have analysed hard disk content and one thing that I would like to bring your notice is that “/windows_old – folder” is taking too much space. Now I want to know it will be better to delete this “/windows_old – folder” or it will have negative effect on my current system. I am not having too much technical knowledge but need to know what can be done for this issue. I will be waiting for the related reply.

One thing is clear that this folder is used by your windows operating system. If you want to use that again then, it will be better not to delete that. If it is necessary for you to delete these folder then do not forget to make a copy of your important files that are present in your windows folder. To be honest , if you delete that windows_old folder then it will not affect your current system. I mean to say that it is hundred percent safe to delete windows_old folder from your system, if you do not want any file from that folder and if you need any important file then you can make a backup for that.

To delete the files from previous operating system installed on the partition you install new operating system will do the following steps: Press Start. Type: Disk Cleanup in the search bar below. Pressed the icon that is in the results. We choose "Files from all users of this computer". Click on "OK" in the next window. We choose the hard drive you wish to clean (where the operating system). Waiting to calculate the space that can be released (takes time). Choose "Release previous operating system files. I hope that this will solve the problem you are facing.

Re: Want to delete "/windows_Old" folder from Linux Mint

On my working computer with two hard drives, I installed linux mint (ELISA) on the disk where Windows was installed my pro. I was wrong when installing this OS on my system. My most important files in Win XP are of course stored on other media. But I wonder if there is a way to turn back and restore my hard drive as it was before this unfortunate manipulation. I hope that I will get a solution for this problem that I am facing. If you can provide any relevant link or information related to this then it will be great. I hope you have understood my problem and now I am waiting for the solution.

Unfortunately it's impossible, but to prevent this kind of blunder, I advise you to make backups of the system with Acronis True Image. I am suggesting this thing because I am using this software utility for myself and trust me that you will not face this kind of problem. I am really sorry to say that this, the information that is lost cannot be get back. But, hope for the best and you should wait for the response from other members. I am sure that you will definitely get the solution for the problem that you are facing. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey.

I am totally agree with the above reply. After the installation and create the boot CD (see diagram in item 2) you create with Acronis True Image just a complete hard drive image or clone the hard drive to another drive. Generally, you make the disk image of the C partition (installed on what is usually your Windows operating system and software programs) in an image file on the D drive or a USB or server drive (below I'll show you even more possibilities). A Wizard guides you step by step through the process. This image file should of course not on the same partition or drive is created as the drive that you want to clone.
