Synaptic does not work on Mint 11.04

Just read a post on some forum that the Synaptic Package Manager will be detached by default while 11.04 arrive. I utilize the Synaptic Package Manager for setup my all programs. So guess it will be a dissimilar thing they have separate that I require. Possibly this will be the last thing which will keep me away from Ubuntu. On Linux mint ATM but generally hop over to Ubuntu now and another time. Does anybody think this will assist a fresh user or just make thing more maddening for presented users? I cannot observe this truly advantage anybody. Why don’t they just keep both after that everybody happy? What occurs it if require to setup a definite package will I have to utilize the terminal instead?
I could all the time just setup Synaptic another time but it should not be detached in the first place.

Support for Synaptic is not being fall. It is just being detached from the default installation. I read the summarize comments to the article you quoted. IMO, Ubuntu is right in eliminating Synaptic. It is only another item to puzzle the non technical user, and Mint is intended at the very people which are puzzled by too lots of options. Those which appreciate the power of Synaptic can simply setup it.

For those who favor Synaptic, it is possibly no big deal. I favor utilizing Synaptic in Mint, too. I seemed through a few old notes and establish that while I first installed Debian Etch, and after that Debian Lenny, one of the first things I did was run apt-get setup synaptic. The installation CD did not comprise it. And it appears to me that I have installed Synaptic in one or two other distro which did not comprise it by default, but I cannot recall which ones those were. So it won't trouble me if Ubuntu does not comprise it by default.

After seeing lots of information or lots of thread on this, I must have to say something. Ubuntu dropped ability with 10.04 IIRC, which is on the install ISO. It is the simplest thing to setup it one time the installation is done. Similar goes for synaptic and 11.04. Those who like will setup it anyhow. Those who have no necessitate for it won't overlook it. So here I am just say Good Luck!!!
