Why did you switch to Linux mint

Firstly I utilize Microsoft Windows 7 and Linux mint as of the past. Why did I switch to Linux mint? I like Linux for some reasons. Free Operating system, free programs, Compiz Fusion and that’s about it. What Operating systems do I utilize? Microsoft Windows 7 since previous year, Linux Mint as of the past. What Linux distro did I exercise? Ubuntu 9.0, Ubuntu 9.10, Linux Mandriva, Linux Kubuntu 9.10 Linux Mint 7. I have just utilized Ubuntu 9.0, Ubuntu 9.10, Linux Mandriva, and Linux Kubuntu 9.10 for an utmost of 20 minutes. Why? Every distro had a trouble. What trouble? Few sound, few wireless internet, and few both. I have not had a trouble with Linux Mint 7 up till now. I plan on raise to Mint 8 but not until later than January. I am still a Noob, I don't know how to setup programs to Linux up till now, and I mainly only utilize Software Manager. I would like to know how to setup themes because I truly want a bad looking theme and I don't know how to setup them. I go to gnome site and after that I am puzzled because I don't know what one I necessitate to download and how to setup it.

I would advise that you continue with Linux Mint 7 for a month or so, earlier than switching to Mint 8. Until all the insects are worked out of the novel version of Mint and to provide you more time to become well-known with how and why Linux does things. Others have specified you a few good links as to how to setup themes in Mint or in Ubuntu. Pursue them and if you have any further queries please freely ask. I want your experiences with Linux or GNU to be fine ones. I have just been utilizing Linux or GNU Operating system for the past 5 months or so; I primary utilized Ubuntu and I currently test or play around with Debian with the Xfce desktop. On my key computer I utilize Linux Mint 8 with Xfce over a Gnome base.

Mint is by far improved than Ubuntu. Been utilizing Mint for a lengthy time with windows XP, and removed windows XP a short time back previously now. Attempted dual booting Windows 7 to observe what the hype was, but truly not anything unique. Either way, Mint pwns Ubuntu just because it fixes the insects and I don't have to download or patch things to have them fixed. Mint is truly wonderful.

That scummy malware Antivirus Pro 2010 strike my windows XP Pro setup, I accumulated my data and after that moved to LM7 with the knowledge that I would be greatly not likely to experience that problem another time. I had handled to get my setup to last 3 years and it was opening to slow down, but not anything serious. Unluckily full screen Flash video sucked with Ubuntu 9.04 and therefore LM7 and I dual booted a duplicate of Windows7 on my laptop to boot into to watch video, at the same time as bit by bit learning my way round Linux. While Ubuntu 9.10 came out I stopped that on and Flash video is approximately fixed. After that lastly while LM8 released its last version I improved Ubuntu to it.

Here, i also want to add something regarding this thread. I had been in Debian for years. While I obtained my 64 bit box, I departed with SID which had 32 and 64 bit distro. While KDE 4 hit SID there were a few quite big hiccups, which gave me many headaches. Or was it heartburn? Thus after that I was appearing for a Debian distro with Gnome. I selected Mint because Debian, Mint apps.
