Getting error “Failed to play test tone”

Yesterday when I started my system then there was no sound from it. I mean to say that when the system started I didn’t came to heart the windows startup tone and later on when I tried to play the music file then also there was no sound and that’s why I decided to do the test the sound from the TEST option which is available on the media player then instead of playing the test tone then it gave me an error message saying that “Failed to play test tone”. I don’t know why this is happening please help me. And for your kind information I am using the windows 7 operating system along with the Intel dual core process and that too on the Gateway desktop computer.

Well this problem arises only when the sound driver are not properly installed or have got corrupted. Now what you have to do here is that just try and install the updated drivers on your system and then see how it goes. And if the drivers are already installed then you can also update the old drivers because if the drivers are too old then they really need to be updated. You can update the drivers from the device manager. I hope that this helps you.

I think that you have to check out whether the sound card is working properly or not if any. And to do the same you have to just use any other sound card and the see whether there is sound or not and if there is a proper sound then you have to just change the sound card itself because it the card that was causing you the problem. I am sure that installing the new sound card and then installing the appropriate drivers will help you for sure.

I was also facing the similar kind of problem a few days and I guess you are also going through the same phase. And if you really want to solve the issue then you have to just perform the system restore. The system restore will restore all the settings that you have made and then you will get a fresh one o deal with. I assure you that doing this will definitely help you because it did for me also. And if this one also fails then you have to update the Xi-Fi drivers and install the one which are compatible with the windows 7 operating system.

Have you install any latest software or any program on your system. Because this problem can be raised due to it also and if the software is not compatible and force installation is done than you have to immediately remove such programs. And later on you have to run the audio troubleshooter this will find the errors related to the sound devices and instantly fix them. And at last you have to check whether the speakers are connected properly or not. And if they are connected properly then just use any other speakers and then see how it goes

I guess you have to visit the realtek site and then just install the appropriate drivers. The drivers that you will install will be compatible because they are downloaded from an official site. And if still the problem persists then you have to disable all the enhancements in the playback device and then check whether you are not getting the sound or not. And this stuff also didn’t helped then there is definitely a problem with the system and to fix it you have to do the SFC scan that will scan that files for errors and then fix it there is itself if found any.
