Is it possible to use BCD to boot both Windows 7 and Linux

I am having a system with tow hard drives in it and 4 GB ram. Now the thing here is that i have installed windows 7 on hard drive 1 and Linux on the other hard drive let’s say hard drive. Now my question is that is it possible to use BCD to boot both Windows 7 and Linux. I mean to say that i want to boot the Windows 7 and Linux at the same time. Is this possible? if yes then please let me know how to do it.

Yes I think you can achieve this thing by keeping the system in the dual boot mode. I mean to say that in dual boot mode enables to use booth Linux and windows 7 at the same time. It doesn’t matter whether the operating system on the two different drives the system loads both of them and that to without any problem. I hope that this will help you also.

Well I guess it is very easy to accomplish the same thing what you have to do here is that just insert both the hard drives and then use the windows 7. After that you have to download the EasyBCD software and then install it on your system. This is nothing but the software that will help you to edit the BCD. Now after the installation you have to just so to the Add remove tab and then just enter the entry of yours at the bottom. You will find Linux in that list select the GRUB and rename it. And at last point the same to the appropriate drive.

I have gone through your problem and it seems to me that the bcdedit will definitely help you in this case. What you have to here is:
    • First of all open the command prompt.
    • To open the command prompt you have to go to the start button and then select the RUN option.
    • After that just type the bcdedit in it and press enter.
    • Then the command prompt will open with the BOOT entry
    • The boot entry will have the following four main sections
      1. Identifier- The identifier is nothing but the name of the boot entry.
      2. Device- It is the drive that the system will use to boot the boot entry.
      3. Path- I t is location of the boot loader
      4. Description- It is detailed information of the boot loader
    • Now under identifier you will find the option called {current} this will show you the operating system to be booted and there you can set the one you want.
