Unable to open Windows 7 Magnifier

I have recently installed windows 7 operating system on my computer. Today when I was playing with the magnifier I suddenly selected dock option, and now when I am trying to unselected it, then it is not allowing me to do that. After that I rebooted my computer and tried to open the magnifier, but it was not getting opened up and it gave me the error message. I don’t have any idea related with this issue, so I require you help on this problem in order to solve it out. Do help. Thanks.

I have a nice fix for this particular problem. So first try to close the magnifier, and then go to the registry by going to the run and typing regedit in it. Now you will require navigating through the following key- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ScreenMagnifier. After doing that you will require going to the Magnification Mode DWORD value and here you will have to change the value to 2 or 3. Now close the registry. Then you will have to go to the Services snap-in, by going to run and typing the text services.msc. Here you will get as list where you have to find the “Desktop Window Manager Session” service and after finding it right click on then left click on restart. Then close the services snap-in. Once you are done with all these settings now try to open the Magnifier and this time it will work for you.

I have gone through your problem and for solving it I will like to suggest you a solution. Try to update the display driver on your machine. Go through the following steps for doing that-First try to go to the start and then to run. In run you will require to type “devmgmt.msc” and then press enter. Now try to expand the display adapter and then right click on the sub item and click on update. So try it out, as it might help you in solving your problem.

For solving this problem few solution are already provide above, so I have now left with one solution which I will like to suggest you now. If you are not able to solve your problem even after trying the solution which is given above, then I will advice you to reinstall the display driver for your computer. I hope that this solution will definitely solve your problem because I have solved my problem after going through this one.

Thanks for the reply. I have implemented the solution given by deepest Blue and after doing it I was able to solve my problem. Now I am able to open Windows 7 Magnifier on my machine. By going to the registry I had changed the value to 3 and it did work for me. It was really a wonderful solution, as it solved my problem and I will like to thank you once again for your kind help.

I also, was having problems with mag. program in win 7. I unfortunately, tried deepest blue's suggested fix...Changed value to 2. This fixed my mag., but unfortunately corrupted other programs. Some open way too large to use, and some way to small to see adequately. Tried a restore. this fixed some things, but again made others worse! What now? I thought I had learned my lesson not to change reg. values w/o confirmation of fix potential...
