Configure DNS master server on centos

I have been using the centos as my primary Operating System. I tried to configure the DNS master server. But I could not able to move on with settings. I stuck middle of the configuration. Can anyone tell how can I get up and complete the configuration process and make it running? Give me a step by step advice for this issue. The DNS master server provides the good service for the use of internet access, so I don’t want lose it in the middle.

Yes. As you said it gives the revolutionary service that will help us to use the internet service very easy. There are several steps to achieve in order to make the DNS server in running mode. Some of the steps include- Initial configuration, setting Daemon option, adding your domain, starting Bind, Testing the Server, Configuring Dynamic DNS. You must compete these settings first. In the DNS tab you should configure the correct system host name, domain name, server name and search domain. Server names are used to hunt the other servers or hosts on the network.

You can run the DNS server for your or yours slave zone. In order to set the DNS master server on your Centos, create /etc/named.conf including all the important settings for the server and also for the zone files. The settings may include logging, ACLs and zone file locations. After that you can use the second link provided. Then attach the pages named as name server for the current version of Blind and man the RFC for the zone file format. You can mention the RFC numbers by referring the blind documentation.

Using the commands you can configure the DNS and DHCP server. Open the command line terminal on your centos and type the command as system-config-network . If it didn’t seems to be working you can use YUM key word like: yum install system-config-network. If this things work then scroll to your network card and press enter. Next tab down for the option called DND and select Ok. Press Enter to complete the configuration. Next type ifconfig and check whether the IP address is received or not. Now change the directory and again type resolve.conf. you will notice the output that the DNS is assigned by DHCP.
