There is tool which is completely used for iMac machine called as ChronoSync tool. Using this tool not only you can synchronize folders as well as backup files with very efficiently. Using this you can synchronize files nearly any device. I have installed this tool on my iMac and I will recommend you the same to install this tool on your iMac. I hope this information may help you.

You can share all your folders from windows XP to the iMac using the option “Sharing this folder on the network”. For that you have open the “My Document” and then select the “Share this folder option” and put the check mark in the box, front of the “Share this folder on the network” and write the user name in to the fields and also put the check mark at front of the “Allow network users to change my files” option for sharing these files between these two. And then type “ipconfig” in the command line window. And then do the following setting to your iMac, that is click on the “Connect to server” and then GO to menu and type “smb://” with your PC’s IP address into the field and then click on the “Connect”. At the end go to the “System preference” and select the “Services” tab and put the check mark front of “window sharing” option. And type name in the given field and type the IP address in the Run on your PC with the name of administrator of iMac and then hit OK button. And then you can change folder and files between two computers.

You can use FolderShare tool to synchronize folder between these two computer. For that you just have to install this tool on both computer Windows XP as well as on iMac. Then after installing you can start synchronizing between these two. I think you should use this tool on your machine. If you are having any other query then please reply me.
