Facing Problem in Disk Clean Up Utility

There is an issue in my “disk clean up utility”. When ‘I have tried to ran the erase free space function which in to the disk utility then I have found that it is taking so much time and after an interval it is remain there showing the window of processing the clean up activity. Then I have to cancel it manually by using the task manager. When I ran this utility I have around 15 GB of free space but in the halfway process it popped an error message that computer was out of hard drive space. So as I tell you that I have to cancel the task manually. And after this when I checked my hard disk then it shows that zero KB is KB is available. But there is no any other issue with my computer because it is running fine. So please tell me what to do in order to fix this issue.

I know this and do not worry because when you use the erase free space function at that time because of crash also your system gets interrupted. Or sometimes other reasons are also there like, hang, power outage, or little animal urinating on the power supply. Disk Utility achieves the erase feature by generating large sparse image files in a predetermined directory. And after this it delete them by using the srm tool and the overwrite pattern of your choice. And when this utility gets interrupted at that time one type of image is created on the disk just to take up space. And when you start the other session to delete the files I mean that when you run the other disk clean up utility then it again creates another file instead of cleaning the previous one. So as I think starting again this utility does not make any sense here. So you have to solve this manually. There are so many ways to fix this issue but I will tell you the best one. The files which are created in to the /var/root/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems and there you will get the file of name EFTFile1.sparseimage. So you just delete these files from the root to get the free space and after this you just start the process one more time to finish the task.
    sudo rm -f /var/root/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/*

Whatever the location is given in the above solution related to the sparshimage file it is correct only if you are erasing this free space on to the boot drive. And if you are performing this activity on to the other volume so at that time the location of the sparshimage file is /Volumes/YourVolume/.TemporaryItems/folders.UIDNumber/TemporaryItems/. And you will see there that “Your Volume” is name of the volume which is being erased. And also you will find there “UID Number” this is the number of users performing this action.

I really able to get the sparseimage file in my waste I mean in my deleted files. After failing to discover any reference to it, or Temporary Items, wherever under any user account. And then I only obtained to it by searching each file\folder on my system for bytes user just do not blank trash firmly or it all locks up emptied usually and got 100GB immediately.

I am also facing this issue and regarding this I do not that what I have to do in order to fix this issue when I have seen solution which is given here then OI have tried that but I was not able to find any type of sparshimage file. So in last I have decided to sell my G5 and required to do a secure erase, so put it up to do 7 zero outs in Disk Utility Options. So when I have start this utility it started nicely by saying that it will take around 3 hours so I have just went to bed and when I got up I have seen that 3 hours of the notification get disappeared and a little was clearly still going on. Then further I have figured out that I was also able to do this without Fort Knox security and so that is why I have clicked on to the skip. But in ths after the couple of hours it is still skipping that is what it says. And I have not seen any reduction on to the bar. And in order to close this process I have gone in to the Disk Utility menu and from there decided to quit this function but when I try to close this then it prompts me that Disk Utility still has some operations in progress and also says that quitting in halfway of some operations can left a disk non-operational. So point related to this is that, I have previously deleted the whole thing on the disk, so what am I able to do in order to obtain where I desire to go and left the 250 GB disk in pristine condition for the next owner.

I am also facing the similar issue and in the halfway process of disk clean up utility I have close this process by task manger. And at that time when I close this my screen black out and then I have logged in again and then I have check my hard disk space it is showing me that there is no memory. Out of fright I did the erase free space once more time and waited until it finished but my memory is still low. What do I do?
