Best OS for gaming?

I have bought a new Apple Mackbook pro. It is currently having Windows vista installed in it. I like play computer games therefore I want the operating system which will be best for gaming purpose. I am not saying that Windows vista is not working fine, I just want to ask you the best one among all the operating system. I want to install the operating system which will be compatible with the games in future. Please post your suggestions.

Dont think to install the Windows 7 because I have found many issue of computer overflowing or getting hanged. You can stay with the Windows Vista that is also a great operating system for gaming and in future if you want to change the operating system then you can switch to Windows XP that is also good for gaming laptop. This is just my suggestion, you can go for anyone of your choice.

I dont think that operating system will affect the performance of the game and create a big issue.The thing that can create problem for your game performance is your hardware configuration. Make sure that you have a good configuration for the hardware of your computer. You can select any of the operating system of your choice and install that in your laptop or you can also stick with Windows vista, that is also a good one.

I do not agree that Windows vista can be better than Windows 7 because Windows 7 is made by removing all the performance issue from Windows Vista nad they have also added some better functions in it. I am using Windows 7 and not got any issue till now. I just cant run the games which are written under the old DOS/Win95 stack.

If you want to run the new games on your computer then you have to install DirectX 10 and this is only available on Windows Vista. You can go for premium or Ultimate. If you go for 64 bit then it will also be good for you. Keep vista as your operating system this will work fine. And why you want to change this if it is not showing ant problem.

Windows 7 have better memory management than Win Vista. I suggest to upgrade to win 7 x64 bit as long as your hardware setup can support this OS. If not it is better to stay with Vista or even better to return to Win XP. The only downside of Win XP is that they do not support directx 10 and above.
