Boot Mgr is missing

Hi last night my os seems to have crashed, I rebooted my computer then all of a sudden there's an error saying "Boot Mgr is missing press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart". I tried repairing it using windows 7 dvd and every tool there is on the dvd but to no avail. I have only 1 hd with 2 partition, one for the windows 7 os and 1 for backup of my files, before I rebooted, my partition for my backup files was missing on My Computer. My specs are Pentium dual core 2.6 ghz, 3 gb ram, 80 hd sata. Can anyone help me with this?, I don't want to format my hd because of there are important files on my hd.

This problem occurs if your computer is not able to find bootmgr file which is mandatory to let Windows bootup. It is stored on your hard drive. But if your hard drive cables are not properly connected, this message appears. So disconnect your SATA or IDE cables and then re-connect them once again properly. Now see if you can start Windows as normal.

Thanks for the quick response, tried that already, also tried cleaning the whole unit but still the same error occurs. Tried also system restore but it doesn't detect any os, but i can browse the hd using repair tools on the windows 7 dvd. It doesn't also detect any error when i used the repair startup.

For this first go in your BIOS and check that there your hard drive is mentioned. If not then you might need to check that your hard drive is working or not. Then other way to fix the installation is repairing Windows 7 with bootable disc. For instance you can use Windows Live Disc to backup your data and perform a fresh installation.
