    AOL 9.5 & Windows 7

I have a new computer, with Windows 7 as the operating system. i am the current AOL member. i have downloaded AOL 9.5.The sign on screen offers only Existing Member, New Member or Guest, the email addresses for our account do not show. There is no password box shown to me during login. When I sign on the 1,2,3 checks take place and it fails on 3, check password, because no password has been entered, because no option to enter was given. Due to this error i uninstalled AOL9.5 and installed the older version AOL9.0, but still the same problem exists. what should i do now .

This problem is normally seen in the AOL with windows7.The problem faced by you can be sorted out , there may be some mistakes occurred while you were installing AOL9.5 or it may have not been installed properly. so do one thing Uninstall the AOL9.5 and install it again. But the new AOL9.5 should be downloaded fresh or it must be the fresh copy. you can remove the program by windows cleaner utility.

Sounds like you have installed an AOL version which is not compatible with windows 7. This is the only reason behind the problem you mentioned in your reply. I think you might check the version of AOL and try to install the AOL 9.5 in your system which works nicely in windows 7. Mention the version in your further replies.

I guess you are facing these problems due to some sort of errors in your registry files. There is only one way you can sort these problem that is by registering the DLL files again. To register the dll files again you have to follow the following steps.
    1. Open start menu select all programs then select accessories.
    2. Right click on cmd from the programs list and select “Run as administrator”.
    3. Type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\vbscript.dll and press Enter.

After the registration is done then you will see the message box saying that “DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded”.
After all this stuff restart your computer.

In this matter i would suggest you to remove all the traces of the AOL with the help of Windows Installer Clean Up Utility present in your system. After all the traces of AOL has been removed. Download a fresh copy of the AOL's latest version and then install it again. It will work for sure.

Using Aol with windows 7 generates such type of problems normally the dll registry fails. So to overcome this problem you have to completely uninstall the AOL9.5. and the again install the AOL9.5. It will for sure erase your problem. If still it remains the same then contact your service provider and ask him to resolve it completely

    Hello,

Did you find a solution for this problem in the end? If so, I would like to know it as I have exactly the same problem. Thanks.

I can only suspect that AOL 9.5 is not a compatible software with Windows 7. So best bet is to dual boot Windows 7 with either Windows xp or Vista inorder to get AOL 9.5 to work in prior windows environment perfectly. You could try to install the AOL 9.5 by using the option called "Run as Administrator" by right clicking it but it is required at every boot up in Windows 7, other than that there is no flawless work around for it.
