Finder search bug in Mac os x

I have exposed that I be able to no longer investigate a mounted shared (AFP) Linux volume in the finder, or in spotlight. The volume is mounted correctly and I am able to observe files. I am able to execute the search, but the search returns nothing, even although I am familiar with the file is there. For illustration, if I mount the volume, open it and search for music.mp3 (I require to pick the volume name in the finder in view of the fact that it defaults to "This Mac") which I be familiar with is in the folder, it does not locate it. No substance what I investigate for it finds nothing. I called Apple on this and they are researching the problem. This happens on together our Macs. Can anybody test in a similar situation.

Similar obsession here with 10.5.5 you are capable to search/find substance on afp associated servervolumes, at present with 10.5.6 it's impracticable. It gives you 0 items as almost immediately as you start typing something in. I do anticipate there determine to be a fix for this almost immediately does anybody have a diminutive find app that facilitates you to locate substance on a afp connected server volume.

Was this permanent sometime connecting 10.5.6 and 10.5.8 or did 10.6 help. We have misplaced the entire capability to search our mounted SMB (NTFS) volumes the entire of a sudden. We did install Markz PageZephyr so that we might crawl the contents of .indd files and have tried re-indexing, but are stumped. So several word on this yet 10.5.6 tranquil yields no search purpose for the 13 MACs on our server.

I am trying to utilize my Finder's "Search" mode to position files on my MacBook Pro 17" (OS 10.5.6) and it is completely not running. I have toggled Search settings to locate file name or file contented, and have tested the investigate function by typing in names of files that I be familiar with essentially exist on my system and it tranquil does not find them. Is it going on with Search mode in Finder.

The files you are searching for one most important drawback of Spotlight (the investigate function built in to the Finder) is that it does not search everywhere. It's actually enormous when you are searching in one of the supported position, but the majority of the time when you are not. Numerous people utilize EasyFind for additional flexible (but slower) searches. Even though this document applies to Mac OS X 10.4, you determine to get an idea where Spotlight searches by viewing the Apple document.

In the Finder, utilize command-F to convey up the Find window. In the pull-down menu that says “Kind” choose “additional” and check the box(es) of the type(s) file(s) you desire to search. I frequently search for System Files, to locate file names users post here, but the locate function does not locate them unless I have System Files checked and the in the locate window choose from the additional pull-down menu, “include” instead of “don’t include.” providentially, subsequent to it is checked, it shows up as an alternative next time in the first pull-down menu.

I am in addition dealing with this annoyance. I have a database on my desktop with multiple directory levels in it. There are tons of .psd files in there three levels down or additional, but the search does not seem to observe them at the entire. It in addition seems contradictory for the reason that in a couple additional cases it worked extremely well. Extremely exasperating I am experiencing the similar difficulty. Search presently is not running productively. I am searching for unambiguous file names, I am looking at the file in the finder, and search cannot locate it. Bigger picture comment: I have been a devoted Mac user since 1989 and is it presently me or have things slowly changed in excess of the past year or so.
