Is Snow Leopard is having JDK 1.3?

I have installed Snow Leopard; the thing is that only JDK 1.6. The 1.5 is system link to 1.6 and in the 1.3 folder there are only the libraries. The thing is that I am having third party application that is only going to run on 1.3. Hence the question is that is there any method for getting JDK 1.3 on Mac OS X 10.6. I will be thankful for any related reply.

You are using the third party application that requires 1.3, you have to be specific related to that 10.5 Leopard also lack a 1.3 JVM, hence you are running now on 10.4 Tiger. Because Tiger’s 1.3 JVM is not a native Intel code, it is only the emulated PowerPC connected to Rosetta. This will run very slow if compared to native JVM

I am trying to run the application is ATG control center. It is a remote java application that is connects to a server application on the RMI. As far as I know it is a pure java application, hence I believe that it was working below the Rosetta. I have the idea that all the JDK for the entire platform can run the older java application in the to the rear compatibility mode.

Considering that it is a Java Web application, and then they must have full control on the java version that requires. But if they are saying that it will require a version of the Java 1.3, then it will requires and there will not be much thing you can do about it. You can only launch the complaint against the ATG. They must support the latest version of Java.

Well for the purpose of Rosetta, the JVM itself will run under the Rosetta, and the core java application will then be running below the JVM. According to me JVM is just a program that is written in other programming languages such as C or C++. If you can manage to do this you can see this in the Activity Monitor Application that is found in the Application or utilities folders.

If it is really happening the you can see it in the Activity Monitor utility that can be found in the utility and then in the utility folder. You just need to simply launch the utility and then run the Activity Monitor and after that scroll the list of the processes at the side for seeing the kind column. If it displays that the “PowerPC” is online for you then you then it is sure that your utility is running under Rosetta.
