Cannot view Daily Show video

Currently I am using Ubuntu 8.04 it is working fine, the only problem I am facing that Flashplugin-nonfree on Firefox 3.0.11 is not working on many sites. Before there is no problem using this plugins but this problem is started yesterday. My most of the work is related to the DailyShow but is not opening now. I think DailyShow using any new flash player.

I thing other providers are using the same or the old version of flash player as Comedy Central. Hence the Ubuntu or Firefox user are facing this problem.
I will suggest you to reinstall the Flashpalyer and the shockwave plugins. I mean try to install the new version of Flashpalyer so that it can match with the advance version.

Try this,
Open your Firefox, type the following code in to your address bar

about:plugins

and then press enter, Now look for the “Shockwave Flash” entry. Now check the library should be libflashplayer.so. Then check for the version number. If the version number is less 10 then you need to install Flash player 10. Updating your flash player will solve your problem

The problem is that flashplugin-nonfree fails you need to install the latest version from adobe.com (10.0 r22) it will work fine. You have to follow these steps for this thing to work.

1. First you have to uninstall flashplugin-nonfree

sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree

2. After that download the .deb file for Ubuntu 8.04

http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH

3. Then you have to install the package

sudo dpkg -i install_flash_player_10_linux.deb

This will definitely work I am saying this because it worked for me.

I have followed steps you have mentioned removed flashplugin-nonfree, and downloaded the flashplayer 10.
Now I am getting this message "To view this movie you need the Adobe Flash Player plugin. You also need JavaScript enabled in your browser."


Moreover, the synaptic package manager asked me to download the most recent version of Flash 10, 10.0.22.87-2, I have also done this.

I have also checked for the plugin, through about:plugins in the address bar, but the version of the flash player is not listed

Can anyone suggest me what I am missing?
