Windows 7 is a much more advanced operating system. I think that you only have to click the start button and then type the command which ever you want and it will start working in the same way as it use to work formerly in the windows XP operating system. I hope that this will help you to some extent.

To place the run button on the start menu try the steps which i have mentioned below:
    • Open start menu and right click in an empty space and click properties.
    • After this click on the start menu tab and select customize.
    • Check the Run Command and press the OK button.

This is a very simple task you simply have to create it from the Group policy. So try the steps which i have mentioned below

    1. Go to Start menu
    2. Type "gpedit.msc" without the double quotes in the search area.
    3. Select continue if you prompted.
    4. Now click User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar in the left pane
    5. In the right pane go the option Add the Run command to the Start Menu right click it and select Edit.
    6. Click Enable Radio Button and then click OK.
    7. Finally apply the settings and click OK.

Simple: Right Click on the "Orb" (Start button for those used to older Windows version) and select Properties. The Start Menu tab comes up by default (if not click on that tab) and then click on "Customize". You'll see a whole list of ways you can customize your Start Menu. No reason to settle on the defaults Microsoft gives you. Run is one of the options. By default it's not activated. I agree with previous replies that the Run option is no longer needed when you have the wonderful search box on the Start Menu in Windows Vista as well as Windows 7. Don P
