Does Windows 7 have a built in antivirus

I have recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 and I am looking for a good compatible antivirus that can work in Windows 7. But, many of my friends have said that there is no need for an antivirus in Windows 7 as it has a feature of scanning internally. So, I wanted to ask that does Windows 7 have a built in antivirus. All possible comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Windows 7 does not have a built in antivirus. Actually, when you insert any external drive in your system, a windows appears that can fix the problems that are there with that particular drive. This also has a scan feature that can remove the infections, if any from that same drive. This is a very good feature of this operating system and you can get the same in Windows Vista too.

I do not think that Windows 7 has a built in antivirus. That scan feature that this operating system provides is not capable of removing all kinds of infections from the external drive. Moreover, it cannot be used for scanning the system. It can only be used to remove the problems of the external drive. I suggest you to look out for any good antivirus that can be used in this operating system.

Hello there, I advice you to use AVG antivirus, since Windows 7 does not have a built in antivirus. This antivirus is truly compatible with this operating system and I can assure you this, since I am using the same in my system with Windows 7 operating system. This antivirus has been recommended by the experts for the removal of infections like worms, virus and trojans too.

If you are looking for a free antivirus, then I recommend you to install Microsoft Security Essentials in your system as this is a free and very good antivirus that has been provided by the officials itself. It has a very flexible interface and can be used easily even by the beginners. Windows 7 does not have a built in antivirus, so using this will help you a lot.

If you want to install a good and compatible antivirus in your computer with Windows 7, then I suggest you to use Avast antivirus. This antivirus has the feature of boot scan, that takes place before the startup of the operating system. This scan can remove the infections, since the infections cannot execute before the operating system loads and as a result they remain inactive. I am quite sure that Windows 7 does not have a built in antivirus.

    Hello Kaufman,

There is no Anti-virus included with Windows 7. You will need to buy it from a third party or use one of the free "limited" versions.

    Thanks again,
