    Exclamation No active mixer devices installed

    Okay i have researched for countless hours for a solution and nothing seems to work.

    I am getting the "no active mixer devices isntalled" message and none of my sound works.

    I have the AC97 audio controller on WIndows XP SP3

    I have:

    Updated the drivers for anything audio related
    Rolled back all drivers
    Uninstalled and re-installed my drivers, sound programs, etc.
    Windows is fully 100% up to date
    Downloaded all updated drivers for my MoBo
    System Restored
    And just about everything else you can un/reinstall.

    The Enumerator Driver is installed but cannot be started.

    When i go to services, everything audio and plug and play related is started and working (so it says).

    I just don't know what else to do.

    No new programs caused this, i was just listening to music on WMP and the sound just stopped for no reason whatsoever.

    Somebody please give me a hand. Thanks in advance.

    Re: No active mixer devices installed

    To remove this error, try the following steps :

    * Goto Start->Run.
    * Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
    * Now, in the new window, in the right hand panel, scroll down to find 'Windows Audio'.
    * Double click on 'Windows audio'.
    * In the new window, select 'Startup type' as 'Automatic'.
    * In 'Service status', click on 'Start'.
    * Click Ok to exit.

    Re: No active mixer devices installed

    Well i checked the threads.

    I have already tried the Windows Audio Services fix. It started and SAYS its working properly.

    Audio is enabled in the BIOS

    I have already tried the machine.inf fix to no avail.

    The first two threads i actually saw when i was googling for possible solutions.

    Still having no sound but thank you very much for your input ^_^.

    EDIT: i have a feeling that the sound device on the MoBo just took a poop on me. However all help is greatly appreciated.
