Re: How to install and upgrade from Boot Camp Beta

If you have already installed Boot Camp Beta on your computer, it is unnecessary to partition new hard drive or reinstall Windows in order to perform the upgrade. To perform an upgrade from Boot Camp Beta, update the Boot Camp drivers for Windows.

Just restart your Mac using Windows.Insert the disk Mac OS X or Leopard Install Disc 1 Mac OS X comes with your computer to install the Boot Camp drivers.

Installing Windows on your Mac computer with Boot Camp involves the following steps:

    Run Boot Camp Assistant:
Boot Camp Assistant helps you perform 2 tasks, first to Create a partition for Windows and second to launch the Windows installation. Wizard Boot Camp creates a partition for Windows on the boot disk or any other internal drive of your computer where Boot Camp Assistant helps you to start installing Windows.

To use Boot Camp Assistant log on to your computer using an administrator account, close all applications open, then close the open session of any user your computer. Open Boot Camp Assistant (/ Applications / Utilities /) and follow the instructions on the screen.

Boot Camp Assistant creates the new Windows partition. Your original Mac OS partition, with all your software and information, remains intact. You can use Boot Camp Assistant later to remove the partition if you want to restore the disk to a single-partition Mac OS X volume.

Re: How to install and upgrade from Boot Camp Beta

After you finished with Boot Camp Assistant, its now time to Install Windows. A keyboard and mouse are required during installation, unless you use a laptop. If your computer has no optical drive integrated you must install Windows and Windows drivers using a floppy disk external optical compatible. Follow these steps to install Windows on your Macintosh:

    • If you've already closed the Wizard Boot Camp without installing Windows:
      • Open Boot Camp Assistant.
      • Select "Start Windows Installer.
      • Click Continue
    • If you use a computer with multiple internal drives, select the disk on which you plan to install Windows and click Continue.
    • Insert your installation disc of Windows.
    • In Boot Camp Assistant, click Start Installation
    • Your computer then boots from the disk to install Windows. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Re: How to install and upgrade from Boot Camp Beta

The last and final step of the installation process after installing Windows is to install Mac-specific drivers and other software forWindows using your Mac OS X Leopard installation disc.To install Boot Camp:
    1. Eject the disc to install Windows.
    2. Insert the Mac OS X disc. If Setup does not start automatically, browse the disc sing Windows Explorer and double-click setup.exe in the Boot Camp directory.
    3. Follow the instructions on the screen. If a message indicating that the software being installed has not passed the tests Windows logo appears, click Continue anyway. Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input. If you feel that nothing happens, it is possible that a hidden window requires your intervention. Look at the taskbar and look behind the windows open.
    4. After the computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware
    5. Wizard to update the drivers (for Windows XP only).
    6. Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.

    Thats it!!!

    System requirements for Boot Camp:
    • An Intel-based Mac computer, with:
      • a USB keyboard and mouse, or a built-in keyboard and trackpad
      • Mac OS X version 10.5 or later (the latest version of Mac OS X is strongly recommended)
      • a built-in optical disc drive, or, if your computer doesn’t have a built-in optical drive, a compatible external optical drive
      • all firmware updates for your computer
    • A Mac OS X Leopard installation disc, which can be either of the following:
      • a Mac OS X Leopard disc (included with all purchased copies of Leopard)
      • a Mac OS X Install Disc 1 (included with all Macs that have Leopard preinstalled)
    • At least 10 GB of free space on the disk you’re installing on
    • Boot Camp Assistant (located in /Applications/Utilities/)
    • Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later, or Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate
