    RPM Verses Debian

I am currently working on Windows operating system and I am too bored by using the same operating system for years. I want to try a different platform using the dual boot method. So, I was thinking of installing a Linux operating system. But, I wanted to know that which is better in RPM Verses Debian. I request suitable suggestions that will help me in the future with the operating system that I install.

    Re: RPM Verses Debian

RPM is a format of package whereas Debian acts as a distribution. The advantage of Debian is that it is Ubuntu also uses it as well as its various other derivatives. So, there is no much difference as such in the RPM Verses Debian analysis. The package format and the distribution features are not even noticed by the users. So, you keep the operating system that ultimately suits your needs.

    Re: RPM Verses Debian

RPM Verses Debian has not found any solutions till now. The operating system depends from user to user. They actually perform similar types of functions. RPM has good documentation than Debian. The dependability depends on what one has actually used. As you are not used to any of the Linux OS, you will find both the operating system simple. Till today, the users find no difference between both the operating systems.

    Re: RPM Verses Debian

The RPM Verses Debian does not have major conversation in today's world, since everything is done by the distribution package managers nad the package managers who do the third party selling. It has a package manager like:
    • yum
    • apt/synaptic
    • smart
    • zypper

This is used for the package manager and actually no normal user understands, so there is no issue in using any of the operating systems.

I cannot understand the reason why you are looking out for RPM Verses Debian. I would suggest you to go for a Macintosh operating system, if you are actually looking out for a switch in the operating system. This is because Macintosh is the best operating system available and it is recommended by many of the experts. You will also get to learn many new things in Macintosh as compared to Linux operating system.

    Re: RPM Verses Debian

RPM Verses Debian is a Linux OS comparison and as there is not much of a difference between them, the different users have different opinions. The RPM is best suited for the RPM-based systems:
    • Redhat
    • Suse
    • Mandrake

Similarly, Debian is best suited for the Debian-based systems. But, I suggest you to keep Windows as another option in the dual boot syste,.
