Is Ubuntu netbook remix that good?

Hey guys i have Ubuntu netbook remix installed on my netbook. I am wondering what are the actual advantages of using Ubuntu netbook remix. I have installed it on my new compaq mini 110. I cannot get the broadcom drivers to work or install on it which is a major issue that i am facing right now. To fix this issue i need a wired connection which i don't have right now. I have a good experience with using Jaunty Jackalope. So i was wondering whether there are any actual advantages of keeping UNR or should i scrap it for Jaunty?? please advice.

Ubuntu netbook remix is available for versions 9.04 and 9.10. I think not including the proprietary drivers for downloading was done on purpose by Canonical, although in some circles it is reported as a bug or a defect which i think is not true to be exact. The Ubuntu netbook remix is basically just a front end interface for Ubuntu in reality so if you don't like it then just don't use it, as simple as that. Ubuntu netbook remix is actually heavier on the RAM if i know correctly so scrapping it could be a good move after all for you if you want to go light on system resources.

Ubuntu netbook remix is just a front end for Gnome on top of Ubuntu as far as i am concerned. It could be sort of switched on and off but i think that piece of code working as a switcher was broken as it used to rearrange my panels every time when using hardy which is why i scrapped it. I think there was a netbook remix for Jaunty too but the user interface was a bit different as far as i recollect. As far as i am concerned i don't think there is any added efficiency in terms of processor etc with Ubuntu netbook remix so if you decide to ditch it for Jaunty, no big deal. Hope this resolves your doubts whether Ubuntu netbook remix is that good or not.

Ubuntu netbook remix is a standard i386 build. The netbook front end interface actually runs on top of Gnome so it heavier on the resources. Basically that means it is heavier in terms of RAM use. The low power Intel architecture version for small hand held devices was dropped as far as i remember. That version had a low power focus about it and was supposed to extend your battery life. Advantage of the Ubuntu netbook remix is that it is basically made for optimizing and making the most of small screens. It will maximize most windows by merging the panel and title bar.

I am running ubuntu netbook remix based on karmic koala, that is Ubuntu 9.10. I have a EeePC 900a with 2 GB RAM, 8 GB solid state drive and Atom cpu. I only need to install patches for wifi and microphone on it, except that everything worked fine on it. On Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty, i had to make/install more patches which is i prefer the earlier mentioned version. I liked the ubuntu netbook remix user interface a lot, in particular the one being used for karmic. It has improved a lot compared to the 9.04 Jaunty. I had used it since the early beta stage and i am very much satisfied as to how stable it is.

I am currently on MSI Wind and in the beginning i started with the basic installation of Jaunty and then added the netbook remix user interface. Well the advantage of the Ubuntu netbook remix UI is that it maximizes the visual components of the system. Other than this major difference there isn't much there to separate the classic interface and netbook remix UI. With the small screens on the netbooks, it is usually better to go for the Ubuntu netbook remix. I haven't really used Karmic till now as i am going to wait for a while till the known little bugs, issues that are there are fixed by the Ubuntu developers. If you are using the netbook then it would be a wise choice to go with the netbook remix as you will benefit from it, whether it is for Jaunty or Karmic is up to you in the end.
