Installing Windows 7 using Pen Drive

    Hello ,
I am getting the problem installing the Windows 7 from the DVD installation Disc. I think the Installation Disc in not working or may be some problem or error in the installation Disc. I have the Copy of the Windows 7 installation Disc on my system. I have heard that we can install the Operating system using the Pen drive. If this is true then, how can i install it in my computer? i have the 8GB pen drive , Is it sufficient for carrying out this task?
Please tell me the procedure to do the same.

Re: Installing Windows 7 using Pen Drive

As now we can get the Pen Drive of the sizes more than 4GB easily in the market. it is becoming very common to use Pen Drives for OS installation rather than making and Burning the CD or DVD for this purpose. You can install the Windows 7 from the Pen drive on your computer. this is becoming very common because some of the laptops and notebooks does not have the CD/DVD drive , so the USB is the only way to install the OS on these systems.

You have heard that we can install the Operating system using the pen drive. But to do this first of all your Pen drive should be Bootable to complete this task. I think by default the pen drives are not Bootable. you have to make them Bootable for using it to install the Operating system in your computer system. If you will directly copy the whole Image file of Windows 7 operating system from your computer to the pen drive, this will not work. You have to make this pen drive Bootable so that the computer automatically detects it at the start-up.

Why you want to take all the stress of creating a Bootable Pen drive.

If you have the Win7 iso file, then just create a small partition of 10Gb in your Hard drive. Then create a directory called Win7 and then extract the Win7 iso into this 10Gb drive you created. Start the installation from this drive. This is the easiest and the fastest way for installing Win7.

    Best way:
C drive: Your existing XP or Vista
D drive: Your expected Win 7 OS destination
    E drive: Win7 source files
